Austin Neff is a dynamic litigator who specializes in cases involving catastrophic personal injury and medical negligence. Austin’s first civil jury trial as lead counsel resulted in a 1.1 million dollar jury verdict for the victim of a birth injury and their family, marking the second highest jury verdict in Lewis County, Washington for a personal injury case. But Austin has been successfully trying cases to verdict since before he graduated law school, under Washington’s Admission and Practice Rule 9.

After graduating law school, Austin joined the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. He remembers walking to the courtroom for the first time as a trial deputy and being pulled into his supervisor’s office. The case was going to trial for a reason. The victim, a three-year old child, could not testify, and even the most experienced prosecutors will tell you these are among the most difficult cases to prove. On top of that, the defendant was represented by experienced private counsel. The voice from behind the supervisor’s desk said, “You won’t win this case, but it’s righteous. Go out there and fight the good fight.” Both sides presented their case. That same supervisor then watched as the jury returned a verdict in Austin’s favor after only seven minutes of deliberations, and a trial lawyer was born.

In addition to his work in the courtroom, Austin is always willing to mediate or attempt negotiation at the request of his clients. He has recovered millions of dollars in settlements since joining Osborn Machler in the Spring of 2021. Many of these cases are kept confidential due to the subject matter and identity of the defendant.

Austin received his undergraduate degree from the William O. Douglas Honors College at Central Washington University and played defensive back for the Wildcats. He went on to attend the University of Washington School of Law, graduating as a member of both Moot Court Honor Board and the National Order of the Barristers, the highest honors for oral advocacy.

When not in the office, Austin can be found skiing, golfing, or spending time with friends and family.
